LONG SHADOWS
Sun is settin’ low on the ocean
The second hand slows and we better be concerned
About the clock of the future
Better give that key another turn
Long shadows on the sands of time
No future if we don’t find
A way to change things and get back the gift God has given
Long shadows on the sands of time
Floods are givin’ more than we’re needin’
The Golden state burns and we look the other way
To see our face in the mirror
Sun is settin’ now for us today
Long shadows on the sands of time
No future if we don’t find
A way to change things and get back the gift God has given
Long shadows on the sands of time
This world is the only one we’ve got
Moves we’ve made are getting’ hot
Let’s do the things we’re not
To let her live
Long shadows on the sands of time
No future if we don’t find
A way to change things and get back the gift God has given
Long shadows on the sands of time

Another Line of Cocaine

ANOTHER LINE OF COCAINE
there's a fine dust on the table and a screwed up ten on the floor
the white lady that I'm taking out comes with the bottle of gin I pour
talking to myself in the mirror is that the me that I threw away
I'm as wasted as the lady next door I feel a freight trains in my veins
she's the most expensive habit but she melts the troubles away
when I wanna fly high in a turquoise sky I cut another line of cocaine
the hallucinations hit in waves and I'm drowning in a sea of snow
I might not make it back to the surface but what a hell of a way to go
all the front line girls are kicking and shaking their white feathered tails
biting their gloves from their fingers and I'm as hard as a nine inch nail
she's the most expensive habit but she melts all my troubles away
when I wanna fly high in a turquoise sky I cut another line of cocaine
there's a fine dust on the table and a screwed up ten on the floor
the white lady that I'm taking out she's keeps demanding more and more

Silent Spring

Silent Spring
these words un said, there are no birds
no green the water is gone from years of drought
the river's run dry not a cloud in the sky
something was sprayed a chemical they say
it was in the air
refuse from two hundred factory farms at the gulf of mexico
runoff from the poisoned crops
an ocean of floating plastic and trash
vast highways lead from city to city
the water tastes like oil
the air smells like food
the ground is cracked and dry
i'm tasting metal and sand
theres trash everywhere you can see
blowin in the dead wind
plastic bags in the trees
trucks rumbling in the distance
a dried swamp with rusty cars submerged
in the dim light of the midday sun
i hear a shot from a gun
the DNA is mixtup of
self poisoned herbacide loving
dead plant
useless cash crop
nutrition starved empty shelf
corporate fed seeds without sin
it jumped the fence went down the road
changed everything it met
silent spring dead trees nothing moves but the wind
that howls empty in my soul
the road that led to nowhere
so we are here amoungst the dust
together with no future to our name
it is so empty
this ruined land
the damaged soul
the empty promise
night and day same
hell came through peoples arms
and eyes to make this mess
the silent spring

No more lies
02:32
|

No more lies
No more lies!
Tell me only the truth
Your words and actions aren't wise
Because of you I'm having my blues
Your fibs are only hurting me
I'm not dumb, I sense what you are trying to hide
Your false affections, pretending that you'll agree
With me just wouldn't do, we are no longer side by side
No more lies!
Tell me only the truth
Your words and actions aren't wise
Because of you I'm experiencing my blues
What you fail to understand
Is that it's much better to know then to cling to an unrealistic hope
Perhaps it's cool for you as you have everything planned
But not the way I would cope
Today is the day
I want to hear it from You
If my suspicions are correct I'll go separate way
And you'll get your freedom too
No more lies!
Tell me only the truth
Your words and actions aren't wise
Because of you I'm singing my blues

Stand in the light
We don't have to live in fear No one can con trol
How we feel Or what we do
Stand in the light Stand in the light
Stand in the light Live for what is right
No one is in control
Only we will do what we do
No thought control
We will decide our fate
No one owns you
You owe no one your dues
Break all their rules
If there's one thing you should do

Living Maschines
04:53
|
|||
Living Machines
(there are) living machines in my head
they put them there when i was asleep
always talking sometimes selling things
these maschines wont go away
they keep talking to me
i try to fall asleep
they talk in my ear about nostalgia
i try to stay awake
they pull me down the hill
im running away from them
theyre waIting at the door
when i come home to rest
theyre there on the stairs
i hear trucks backing up
typewriters and rotary phones ringing
BBC five on the shortwave line
the knife and scissor sharpner guy
an acapella group doin soul
on a transistor radio
glass packs on a GTO
on my way to school
theres a double star in the sky
one follows the other
a gravitational ellipse
at night they pulse signals

The Wolf Got It All

The Wolf Got It All
I took out my suitcase and got ready to pack
Where I was going (I knew) I had to go fast
Cause that old world is changing lickety split
Or how on earth could you endup with a city like this
A city like this in a world of cold
Ain’t doing nothing , but holding its own
Look around the pig built it of stone
But that old wolf must have a money roll
Cause the wolf got it all… the wolf got it all
I used to play guitar, but I pawned it today
Need to buy tickets for us to get on that plane
They talk and talk but ain’t no plan for fixing it
All they plan is how to own us and a city like this
Chorus
We’d stay and fight, but we might win…and begin..
To be what we were fighting…plane’s leaving at morning light
Wrap up warm…
A city like this in a world of cold
Ain’t doing nothing , but holding its own
Look around the pig built it of stone
But that old wolf must have a money roll
Cause that wolf got it all… that wolf got it all

The Winter Of My Love

The Winter Of My Love
It's the winter of my love
And the clouds are rolling in
The rain is falling down
And I've lost my only friend
It's the winter of my love
And my pulse is getting weak
My mouth is very dry
My voice can hardly speak
It's the winter of my love
And My sight is growing dim
Will I wake tomorrow
Chances are both none and slim
It's the winter of my love
And the darkness comes too soon
When the sun goes down
I am greeted by the moon

Breakdown

I hear your name in the wind
I talk in subtitles -
subtitled speech
You move in wire frames - wireframe movement
Breaking the
silence
A pin drop of air
Balance on right and left
Connected
thought
Emotional streams of light and dark
Weeds in the broken sidewalk
I'm
messed up on colors
And names of common objects
Days of the weak
Counting
backwards by seven
Hell is a fire in the woods of time
Mixed with random
sentence structures and combinatorial probabilities of events occurring in the
next sentence
Peace is dreamless sleep with unknown people
Teaming masses on
a hot summer street
Filing through doors to the other sides
Where thought
converges with emotion
In a moment of trust

Mark Vee Chicago, Illinois
My dad repaired Black and white televisions and occasionally had amplifiers that had 6L6 power tubes. These turned into my first gigging amp. It was embarassing to have a junky open amp out there with a twelve inch TV speaker in a mahogany cabinet when the rich kids had Fender amps with Gibson guitars... ... more
